Bathing your baby
In the first weeks, sponge baths are perfect until the umbilical stump heals. After that, a quick 5–10 minute tub bath two to three times a week keeps skin healthy without drying it out.
- Warm room (24–27°C)
- Water at 37°C — test with your wrist
- Gentle, fragrance-free wash
Diapering & skin care
Frequent changes, generous airflow and a thin layer of zinc-based cream prevent most rashes. Choose unscented wipes and pat — never rub — sensitive skin.
Soothing techniques
The five S's — swaddle, side, shush, swing and suck — calm most newborns. Consistency and a quiet environment do most of the work.
Daily rhythm
Loose wake-feed-play-sleep cycles offer enough structure to feel grounded, while staying flexible for your baby's cues.
